A lifelong observer of the human condition, Ms. Beckons worked as a news broadcast journalist in radio, and news correspondent for The Waterbury Republican newspaper in her home state of Connecticut. She won the National AP Radio award for breaking news story during the 1980 presidential campaign. She has covered a wide range of political and human-interest stories in more than 20 years as a news reporter. She holds eight national titles from the US Equestrian Federation and was featured in Sports Illustrated magazine. She is a graduate in political science from Tufts University.
As a junior, Nancy was a top ranked equestrian athlete, having won United State’s Equestrian Federation (USEF) national titles for eight consecutive years. She was featured in Sports Illustrated magazine, “Faces in the Crowd” twice. She has taught riding as a highly accredited riding instructor, and was nationally licensed in the English Hunter/Jumper disciplines as an A-rated horse show judge.
Nancy worked as a Sales Executive for two fortune 500 companies followed by a legislative research analyst assisting in the interpretation of state statutes She has also worked on statewide political campaigns during which time she had access to a greater data base of interpretive information and statistics on gender behavior.
An avid sports enthusiast, when she is not working you can find Nancy walk/running, riding, swimming or playing softball at Wrigley Field in Citra, Florida.
